Unintended Consequences

After Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid pushed through the mammoth health care takeover in the dark of night without any meaningful Republican input, it should be no surprise that the unintended consequences caused by the bill will be severe for the American people.

An article in the USA Today outlines one way in which the new bill will actually trap about 200,000 Americans in pricey health plans simply because they made the responsible choice in years past to carry health insurance themselves. According to the article, the nation's new health law creates a far cheaper insurance program opening July 1 for people with pre-existing medical conditions, but to qualify a person can’t have had health insurance in the past six months.

That means people who took part in state-run high risk insurance pools are barred from participating in the new federal option, even though the federal option might be 50% to 70% cheaper.

This is just another illustration of the ways that the Obama Administration ignored the middle class and working families in their pursuit to pass a health care bill by any means necessary. If Democrats had allowed the proper time to debate the bill, and opened up its drafting to the American public, the unintended consequences would be less severe. But unfortunately, more examples like this are sure to come and it will be the American taxpayers who suffer the consequences.

I stated in a reply to your other inaccurate post..not all nuns or hospitals support this bill. Saying it over and over does not make it true. The Pope as the head of the Catholic Church most certainly does not support Obamacare and one of the reasons is abortion funding. He has made that quite clear. Nuns can abuse their position of authority, making personal opinion seem like fact, just like many others in responsible positions have done.

Catholic nuns and hospitals support the Health Plan. I am listening to the nuns, they are more trustworthy than the bishops who covered up abuse for years.

I also heard that state-run insurance for low income individuals will be illegal under the Obama plan. How is that helping?
