"You Asked and We Listened"

One of the most dangerous side effects of the Obama Administration’s failed efforts to move our economy out of recession is the growing expansion of the reliance of many Americans on federal welfare programs.

According to a study conducted by USA Today, government anti-poverty programs now serve an all-time record of one in six Americans. More than 50 million Americans are on Medicaid right now, and another 16 million are expected to be added thanks to ObamaCare in 2014.

More than 40 million Americans currently get food stamps, 4.4 million are on welfare and close to 10 million receive unemployment insurance. Unemployment benefits are now available for up to 99 weeks – more than 8 years.

These grim numbers are the sum total of the Obama Administration’s work to boost our nation’s economy. While the economy of India grows by about 8 percent, and even Russia’s economy grows by more than 4 percent, the American economy continues to struggle to create growth and new jobs.

The Obama White House and the Pelosi Congress are set to make the hole even deeper by refusing to renew the Bush tax cuts. The impact of hundreds of billions of dollars of tax hikes while in the depth of a recession could extend our economic difficulty for years.

Unfortunately, the Democrats in Congress and the Obama White House seem to be more interested in prolonging the people’s reliance on the federal government than they are in creating an environment for businesses to thrive and grow. Until those priorities change, or the American people elect a Republican Congress, our economy will continue to sputter and the federal government will continue to grow.

I think the one huge issue for the GOP is this statement we keep hearing over and over that Republicans are the party of "no". The GOP has not successfully relayed the information that they have solutions. GOP needs to get out specifics. I am not hearing that info. We fight cap-n-trade but we don't know or hear specifics from the GOP. I am trying to keep up on things but it's difficult. If there is a website with this info, I would appreciate hearing about it so I can forward the information to others. I don't want to have to sit and read an entire bill - even our elected officials don't do that. We need one website addressing any issue that is being debated and alternatives to the bill being discussed.

Great piece- This message must get out as voters need to understand that tax cuts drive investment, motivate the entrepreneurial spirit, and create jobs. The 18 month experiment with Socialism under the Obama administration will cause irreparable harm to our economy and American ideals if allowed to continue. It is absolutely crucial that all open seats, at all levels of our government, go Republican so we can have a fighting to chance to right the fiscal course. And then we must hope that talented and conservative managers will come forward and serve in key government posts so the stronghold of pervasive bureaucratic entrenchment can be uprooted, cut down to an efficient size, and replaced with sensible pro-business practices. This is the time to mobilize the party and tell the dems we mean business, literally. To do otherwise, or do nothing, is just un-American.

"Reliance over Innovation"?This is a great example of why I call myself a conservative and no longer a Republican.Do you understand how truly angry people are in the "country class"?Do you not get that we,for the most part have more IQ points, more knowledge of American History, more ability to generate wealth, and of course a far greater ability to meet a payroll than the majority of the persons elected to represent us of either party in the US Congress,or the Executive Branch today?
Reliance or Innovation? How about "they" are buying votes of the citizens they are representing? We know that...it's been going on for eons at least since the turn of the 20th century.Encouraging helplessness, encouraging blame on big business, government, wall street..."they" are there to help the "little people".I say things because I am an AMERICAN.And as an AMERICAN we not only have rights we have responsibilities.
While of course your post is factual,it doesn't encourage me to vote or become involved with the RP.WE KNOW THE TROUBLE WE'RE IN!
I'm angry this pabulum is so removed from what's going on in the real world.
No wonder there is a Tea Party. You have only yourselves to blame.
