One of the guiding principles that drove our nation’s founding was that there should be no taxation without representation. The Pelosi Democrats appear to disagree with this founding principle.
Reports have been building over the past few weeks that Democrat leaders in Congress are laying the groundwork to hold a “lame duck” session of Congress after this November’s elections but before the new 112th Congress takes office next January with what is expected to be a Republican majority. The idea appears to be that electoral losses will free Democrats from any pesky notions of accountability and allow Democrat leaders to pass sweeping pieces of liberal legislation before a new Republican majority takes office.
According to the article linked above in the Wall Street Journal, the plans for a lame duck session are more than just talk. The article reports, “In the House, Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva, co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told reporters last month that for bills like "card check"—the measure to curb secret-ballot union elections—‘the lame duck would be the last chance, quite honestly, for the foreseeable future.’”
Democrats are so desperate to pass liberal measures like cap-and-tax and card check that they appear to be willing to bypass the most important check and balance of all – that of the voters. This cynical ploy to pass legislation rejected by the voters is even more proof of the ideological bankruptcy of the Pelosi Congress.
