"You Asked and We Listened"

The headlines from last night’s elections tell the story. Republican women candidates are poised for victories up and down the ballot in November, and female voters are aligning with GOP candidates to return some common sense to Washington.

In California, Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina will be the Republican nominees for governor and U.S. Senator. In Nevada, Sharron Angle will have the opportunity to toss Harry Reid out of the Senate. With these successes, it is no surprise that Politico ran a story this morning with “GOP Women Soar” in the headline. And National Public Radio deemed yesterday’s results a “Super Tuesday for Women.”

The reasons Republican women were so successful last night are as different as the districts and states in which they ran. But there are a few common threads through each of these victories. Women make the financial and health decisions in a large majority of American households. They are often the ones in the family who balance the checkbook, take care of doctor’s visits, and watch the family budget.

These women are rejecting what they see going on in Washington. Our country is now more than $13 trillion in debt, with more deficit spending proposed in the last two years than the previous 222 combined. Congress and the Obama White House have shoved into law a massive health care overhaul that will take health decisions away from families and put them in the hands of government bureaucrats. Worst of all, our children and grandchildren are being saddled with a massive amount of debt that will drive their taxes in the future even higher.

Female Republican candidates have unique abilities that appeal to voters. And GOP candidates in general are talking about issues that resonate with female voters. If these trends continue, and last night shows every indication that they will, we are poised for significant victories this November.

I am so elated to see the women of GOP triumph! Politics was always a man's world, but now these incredible women have proven that we can hold our own,and do it well! Pelosi will be out of a job pretty soon! I will definitely wave my Republican flag proudly at the RNC summits. Our future GOP leaders have shown us that we can do anything we want to,without fear or shame of being women.
