90 Years of Equality and Freedom

“The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”

Ninety years ago today, the Tennessee General Assembly became the thirty-sixth state legislature to ratify a constitutional amendment to give women the right to vote, making it the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

With just one more state… Continue

Lecturer in Chief

Since his inauguration, President Obama has cast himself more as a college professor lecturing to wayward students than he has as the leader of the strongest country on earth. Playing this role as Lecturer in Chief is one of the chief reasons his approval ratings are in free fall and his party is poised to take a drubbing at the polls in November.

During the debate over health care, President Obama lectured to the American people instead of listening to them. Poll after poll showed… Continue

The Urgent Need for Increased Border Security

Last year, over 500k people crossed our borders illegally. I understand that the majority are harmless and just trying to escape the violence and pursue better opportunities. However, there are those who are not so innocent and don't care about our country, or theirs. I've been verbally attacked by members of both parties for voicing my concerns surrounding the immigration issue. I've stated repeatedly that there are innocent victims involved in the boarder crossings and we need to strengthen… Continue

American People Can’t Wait for Real Stimulus

New job statistics from the Labor Department show that the Democrats’ multiple attempts to stimulate the economy have failed to get people back to work and spur investment in American small business.

The new numbers show that initial jobless claims have risen in three of the last four weeks and are close to their highest point of the year. The seasonally adjusted numbers show… Continue

Nancy Pelosi - The Gift That Keeps on Giving

For union leaders, liberal special interests and out of control state governments that refuse to make the tough choices to rein in spending and balance their budgets, Nancy Pelosi is the gift that keeps on giving.

Yesterday, she offered one of her biggest gifts of all – another $26 billion bailout bill financed by the American people. According to Pelosi, the bill will “create or save” 290,000 jobs. But how can she be believed… Continue

Year of the Republican Woman

The pundits and media have dubbed this the ‘Year of the Republican Woman.’ I’m happy to report that, at least this time, they are right.

We have set records this year for the number of Republican women running for Congress, beating even the numbers set in the last Republican wave election of 1994. I am incredibly proud of these women who stepped forward to represent their fellow citizens.

To focus attention on these female Republican candidates, I have started a program on… Continue

First Steps Down the Road to Repeal

Voters in Missouri took the first steps last night toward the eventual repeal of ObamaCare by overwhelmingly voting to reject the federal mandate to buy health insurance. The Missouri ballot measure approved with more than 70 percent of the vote last night would prohibit the government from requiring people to have health insurance or from penalizing them for not having it.… Continue

Buck Passing Catching Up to Obama and Pelosi

One of President Obama’s favorite pastimes whenever he has found himself in political trouble is to blame George W. Bush. From the economy, to the war in Afghanistan, to even the BP oil spill, the first preferred response from the Obama Administration has been to blame their predecessors. It has gotten to the point that if you search the words “Obama blames Bush,”… Continue

No Taxation Without Representation

One of the guiding principles that drove our nation’s founding was that there should be no taxation without representation. The Pelosi Democrats appear to disagree with this founding principle.

Reports have been building over the past few weeks that Democrat leaders in Congress are laying the groundwork to hold a “lame duck” session of Congress after this November’s elections but… Continue

Think We’re In Debt Now? Just Wait…

If you thought our current national debt was bad, just wait until the full effect of the failed policies of the Obama Administration and Pelosi Congress are felt in about 10 years.

According to the new Mid-Session Review issued by the Office of Management and Budget, the national debt is estimated to double between now and 2020, leaving a $26 trillion dollar debt to be paid by our children and grandchildren. Even worse,… Continue

‘A Very Cold Blooded Operation’

Given the way that Nancy Pelosi has forced members of her caucus to take tough votes and break promises made to their constituents, it should be no surprise that the greatest threat to Pelosi’s continued hold on the Speaker’s gavel may be her own legislative agenda.

Forty-nine Democrat members of Congress represent districts that were carried by John… Continue

Strength in Numbers

It is really a shame that the government is not listening to the people. Last month, the people of Reading, Massachusetts voted in a special election on the issue of the imposed local meals tax. Although the majority of votes were to repeal the meals tax, the sounds of voters fell on deaf ears since the vote had less than a 20 percent overall voter turnout.

The pro-tax increasing crowd of government is spinning the results. Rather than notice that the low turnout was because the town… Continue

Democrat Clock is Ticking for Tax Hikes

When the economy slowed down following the dot-com bust, Republicans in Congress worked with the Bush Administration to enact tax cuts to pump money back into the economy and allow taxpayers more freedom to save, invest, or spend their own money. Those tax relief packages helped spur our economy and generated economic growth.

Now, much of those tax cuts are scheduled to expire at the end of this year. According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, letting those tax cuts… Continue

Leahy Out of Touch

More and more often, when Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) opens his mouth his listeners begin to wonder just how out of touch he actually is.

The latest outbreak of foot-in-mouth syndrome for Senator Leahy came recently when the Vermont Democrat…

Obama White House: Yep, ObamaCare is a Tax

During the debate over ObamaCare, President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and their liberal allies in Congress took great pains to make the case that the mandate on the American people to buy health insurance or pay a penalty did not represent a tax. President Obama even…

Women in the Tea Party Movement by Stacy Snow Feiler

When President Bush called for a prime time Presidential Address concerning the topic of the looming Financial Crisis on September 26th 2008 the American public began to listen. The President essentially told America, that if we did not act immediately, our system would crumble. Over the next week, back door meetings and insider discussions, by Treasury offices and the White House, set up the plan that would be the spark for the fire that would become the Tea Party Movement.

We were told… Continue

Small Business Worried about Pelosi Agenda

A new survey by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce shows that American small business owners are deeply concerned about the effects of the Pelosi agenda on the prospects for job creation and long term economic growth. According to the survey:

“Small business owners are equally divided with respect to identifying the greatest threats to job creation: 25% think that ‘higher taxes’… Continue

Pelosi’s Stimulus: Millions for New Signs but Little for New Jobs

When Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and President Obama pushed into law a massive stimulus bill with a price tag approaching $800 billion, Democrat leaders promised that the bill would “save or create” millions of jobs. What the bill has done instead is spend millions of dollars on road signs touting government spending on construction projects, while the unemployment numbers remain stagnant at around 10 percent.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation,… Continue
