Science fiction or Obamacare?

Two years ago we were told by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi we had to pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, known as “Obamacare,” to see what was in the bill. Now in 2012, we are living a science fiction writer Kirk Vonnegut nightmare of excessive government controls, invasion into our personal lives (including our religious beliefs) and, our personal freedoms now are at even higher risk.

At the very core of the issue is the unprecedented and unconstitutional government requirement that you and I must carry government-approved health insurance. My greatest concern is that the US Congress, with the support of Representative Joe Courtney, has determined the U.S. Government can regulate inactivity. This precedent means the federal government in Washington can do virtually anything and everything!

Let’s take a look at what is occurring, not just what can occur tomorrow. The new and massive healthcare bureaucracy, at its arbitrary discretion, has granted over 2,000 waivers to its own health care regulations. Who received these waivers? The vast majority went to unions and business friends of those in power. In fact, when I last checked, one in six waivers in the United States went to those in Representative Pelosi’s district! Crony healthcare if you ask me.

One whole Obamacare program for long-term insurance, called CLASS, already has been cancelled unilaterally by the Administration because even they recognized it was unworkable. Voters should be aware, however, they did keep it on the books for a future revival!

Before the healthcare vote we the people were told by our career politicians we would not be forced to pay for abortions. Now we find out ALL insurance plans must cover at no charge (which means we taxpayers pay for it), abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives, sterilization, and patient education and counseling for women of reproductive age. Do you feel betrayed yet by these politicians?

Congress and the Obama Administration has gone further and now is forcing religious institutions such as Catholic hospitals, Christian schools, and faith-based pregnancy care centers to provide AND pay for these “services” regardless of their religious beliefs in the recent final ruling, and they neglected to include ANY of the requested changes! Where does our Congressman Courtney stand on these issues? Not on the side of the people, although I imagine today he dislikes having to defend his vote for government-run medicine to his constituents.

What will our future be like when the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) begins rationing healthcare benefits to reduce Medicare spending?  Unelected “experts” get to make the rules you and I and our doctors will be forced to follow. This is about government control of our population. This blog is about immediate concerns impacting the people of Eastern CT and the rest of our great nation.

Obamacare allows NO independent state programs, no individuals or businesses can choose not to participate, and there are NO true private market alternatives. Welcome to science fiction writer Vonnegut’s world of “Harrison Bergeron.” If you recall, the story is about a little 14-year-old boy genius who rebels against a tyrannical, progressive government demanding mediocrity of its society and punishing those who seek individuality, to excel, and to live their dreams.

Despite good government intentions Harrison lived in a world where a model of government existed that focused on determining outcomes, with unlimited authority to reshape his society to that of the government blueprint. It is no longer science fiction. One of its authors was Connecticut Democrat Representative Joe Courtney (CT-02) . Let’s make sure this book goes out of print and soon! Will you support my campaiagn? Dear Daria,

I joined RNC Women with the hope it would offer a venue for promoting RNC/Conservative values, and fully support your efforts to bring 'change' to CT/New England!

With this in mind, I would like to propose we establish a group with the mission to register & transport senior citizens to their 2012 poll locations.

What do you think/are you aware of any other orgs chartered to do this?

Daria - Thank you for adding me as a friend.  Please let me know in what capacity you serve.  I gather from your responses that you are a Representative.  I am in Missouri and and Vice-Chair of my County Republican Committee.

Hi Daria!  I didn't know we could do this on this site!  I'm impressed with the technology that Jan has introduced in this venu.

I'm not on often because I get consumed but I just had to chime in on this one.

And if they failed it, so be it.  They can't vote until they pass!

Every American should be able to pass it, ie the same test in senior govt class.  ouch!  I doubt I could pass it now but I'm taking several Constitution classes this winter so I can learn more!

Thanks for the friend request!  Sure would be nice if there were more Oregonians on this list.  Though I'm sure CT is a very nice place!  ;-)

Thanks for the gift Daria, I do appreciate it, however I won't reciprocate because I'm against the way the software company 'Ning' has treated a lot of 'free' sites and it started with their 'gift' program.  But enough about that, what I really came here to warn you about is Sue Jones, from time to time we get 'Progressive' trolls on this site, the admins have had to ban a few a couple of months ago that really started getting ugly and arguing with everyone... I have a feeling Sue is one of those trolls too... she is baiting people in the forums... and trying to stir up trouble.
