"You Asked and We Listened"

This week marked the six-month anniversary of the passage of ObamaCare. How do you feel about a bureaucrat getting between you and your doctor?

Because of Obamacare, my husband's place of employment is getting rid of all union workers - that would be about 2,000 unemployed factory workers who make on an average $25 an hour. Also, another huge GM plant is moving to Hungary. But, that is what this president wanted from the beginning - take from Americans and give to poor countries. Did you know our tax money - 30 billion of it - went to Mexico so they can drill for oil right next to our oil rigs (which have been forced to close down) in the gulf? And now, we find out that Polisi isn't even going to have a vote on extending the Bush tax cuts - massive tax increases for me, for anyone married, anyone who makes over $10,000 a year. Happy freaking New Year America!
Yes, I had heard about the US giving $30B to Mexico so they can drill for oil next to our rigs. Obama administration is slowly disassembling our country and will leave us to the wolves.
I'm sure you accorded the same courtesy to the former president- President Bush...sure. Just like your friend who referred to him as a "creature" in an earlier post. Also exactly how is it discourteous to refer to the Obama administration as the Obama administration!
It's worse than just having the government in the examination room with me and my doctor. Care is not better than it was in the old days. Even during the "Great Depression" people were not denied care. The crime is that a wonderful old hospital like Charity in New Orleans has been closed. It once was that you could go to hospitals like that when you really had no money to pay the bill and receive good care given in the best sort of attitude, etc.

No government bureaucrat has the medical knowledge or the "calling" to be a doctor or a nurse and they have no business telling me or my doctor what to do or not to do!
I'm determined to see the bill REPEALED!!! I will NOT submit to Government health care. I have already refused to allow doctors to weigh me... they want records of your BMI, so granny will be refused health care that is too expensive, women with breast cancer will die because the FDA won't approve a drug based solely on it's COST.. the drug works, it's just too expensive... after the old people and the people with cancer die... should only take about 10 years... then they'll be denying coverage to the FAT people. As much as people complain about the Insurance companies... please be aware that the GOVERNMENT via Medicare and Medicaid refuse to treat MILLIONS of people every year... and refuse to cover them too... Remember ladies...
Nothing in life is FREE, NOTHING is free... and healthcare isn't free either... if you get 'free' checkups... just realize that SOMEBODY is paying for that... and somebody may even be dying... so that you can have a 'free' mammogram... to find a cancer that they'll refuse to treat.... the demise of this country is painful to watch... we are in BIG trouble people.
Bureaucrats have already been between the doctor and patient for decades. That is also EXACTLY why health care costs as much as it does and also why we have the problems we do with the system.
Anyone interested in a SERIOUS solution that is both Constitutional and economically sensible can find it here:

If anyone has any respect for Milton Friedman, HE said that if health care were allowed to be free market that it would cost LESS THAN HALF of what it does now AND we'd have MORE health care.
Now, are we going to listen to an actual genius, Friedman, or Progressive losers? The choice is the public's and though we are NOT schooled well in econ in this country, the vast majority know this to be true: Friedman is correct about the power of the free market.
Also for those who are uninsured, they may have personal experience with speaking with a doctor or hospital and discovering that ROUTINELY if a person agrees to pay upfront (at time of service) that 30% will be knocked off the bill. Why can you get that kind of reduction and the doctor/hospital not go broke? Because bills are INFLATED for the GAMES that insurers and government PLAY. If you're actually very ill and/or poor, any version of Medicaid is a rip-off--that is where a lot of fraud occurs (illegals and also folks who don't accurately report income. It's nearly impossible for a childless person to get on Medicaid.) So a genuinely hurting WORKING POOR person if he needs the ER or hospital will be billed on average more than TWICE what an insurer and co-pay would bring in. Sensible, right? Of course not.
Price transparency, competition, the end of the vast majority of ALL government regulations, and the sane tort reform in the plan referenced would result in IMMENSE SAVINGS. People would still be able to have BETTER insurance than they do now, for a lower cost, and with FAIRNESS to taxpayers because the plan provides a 20-year BRIDGE of tax credits to PROVIDERS so that those who can't honestly pay the full cost of their insurance can still be covered--but they pay what they can. Also for those who have been blessed with health and responsibly maintained it, their policies will cost less, as they should.
The plan is based on a book with a good deal of research. Info on site.
I vote Friedman.
How is this healthcare plan based on the principles of the constitution when our constitution does not state healthcare as one of the 18 powers of the government?
We must elect Republicans who will stop Obamacare. I believe if we have good majorities, some Democrats will unite with us to overide a veto, especially after the see what happens this November!!
I agree we must stop Obamacare
I am behind repealing this bill- health care/health insurance does need reform- however what was recently passed will not work- and will only cause costs to increase tenfold
small business owners can no longer afford the cost and employees will continue to be let go-
the immature behavior of our current administration and congress has proven to be a good thing for our country because people are starting to take action for once- and beware the sleeping giant-
Actually, we already have a form of government healthcare & it sucks. My husband is retired military, and we are on Tricare, which is an HMO through the Department of Defense. It pays for just about everything, but is unbelievably restrictive. You cannot go out of the network for anything. You have to go through your primary care physician for everything. Everything needs to be pre-approved & you have to get referrals for everything. If Tricare, or your primary care physician, won't approve something, you can't get it unless you pay out-of-pocket for it. Even though Tricare is a nationwide program, it is administered by different companies in different regions. If you are out of your region, you are only covered for emergencies. Emergency treatments must be pre-authorized or Tricare will deny the claim. Tricare will determine if they think the situation is an emergency or not. I am going through a hassle with them right now. I had an emergency hospitalization in May, outside of my Tricare region. Even though I told the people in the Emergency Department at the hospital that they absolutely had to call my region of Tricare for pre-authorization (and I gave them my Tricare ID card), they called the wrong Tricare region. Therefore, my region of Tricare has now denied $30,000 worth of hospital bills, claiming that they were not pre-authorized, and I am now in the process of having to appeal the claim. This is a huge problem, because we are snowbirds -- we live part of the year in Maryland & part of the year in Florida. I can only use Tricare when we are in Maryland, unless it's an emergency. As a back-up, I finally had to pay extra to purchase insurance from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, so I can see doctors when we are in Florida. Tricare should be one program -- regardless of where you are. If you belong to Tricare, you should be covered anywhere in the United States. Tricare can be a nightmare, unless you live full-time in the same place & you never travel outside of your region. You have very little choice of primary care physicians, you can't pick your own specialists, you can't decide which hospital you want to use, etc. This is an example of government healthcare & having bureaucrats decide what you can & cannot do & what they will or will not pay for. It is horrible. Oh, and since Obamacare passed, my Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida premiums just went up by 15 percent -- so much for Obamacare lowering the cost of medical insurance. I do not want government bureaucrats controlling my healthcare decisions. I fear that it will be like Canada or the UK, where you cannot get medical care that they do not approve, even if you want to pay for it yourself. If they tell you that you can't have something, you can't have it -- period. You have to leave the country to get it. That's why so many people come to the US for medical treatment. Now, where will people be able to go to get medical treatment that their own country does not allow them to have? We have been the safety net for the rest of the world. All this, just to cover about five percent of American citizens who don't have medical insurance, can't afford it & don't qualify for an existing program! Obamacare is like using a water cannon to shoot a gnat!
