If Congress extends the Bush tax cuts, and you are able to keep more of your hard-earned dollars, how do you think this will help to stimulate the economy?

Well, I know I will actully go buy something which will help the economy. I haven't sepnd money since Obama has taken office. I stopped giving to charity excepts for animal charities. I refuse to give twice. I was really a generous person before Obama. Now, I am not. I want to have a say where my money goes, not be forced to give it to lazy people.
Permalink Reply by Sue Jones on December 10, 2010 at 2:01pm Do you think that your taxes have gone up the last two years?
Permalink Reply by Elaine Magliacane on December 10, 2010 at 3:19pm YOU WILL NOT get a tax cut... your taxes are either GOING UP, or staying the same.
It's about jobs. If the Bush tax cuts are extended, even if for a short time, those that can hire might. If the Bush tax cuts extended then those that can WILL NOT! I am not a complicated, super intellectual person but this seems simple even to a simple person. I am not convinced that the Bush tax cuts will enable us to keep those hard-earned dollars. It depends on just what the "compromises" obama was talking about are. If we are to give him the DREAM ACT in exchange, then it will not be a productive move. God only knows what is in these 'compromises' and until it quits being about The Federal elect and starts being about WeThePeople, the Bush tax cuts will mean little.
Permalink Reply by Sue Jones on December 10, 2010 at 3:17pm It didn't seem like the tax cuts during the Bush years helped much with job creation. What don't you like about the Dream Act?
Permalink Reply by Elaine Magliacane on December 10, 2010 at 4:11pm It REWARDS illegal behavior, and encourages MORE illegal behavior, perhaps you don't mind that unemployment is a 9.8% here and yet only 5% in Mexico? oooo could it be because unemployed Mexicans come to America and take jobs away from Americans, and we the American tax payers give them food stamps and housing, and pay for teachers to teacher their children English... and now you want to REWARD them by paying for their kids to go to COLLEGE!!!! REALLY? All the while the border remains OPEN, and the Mexicans POUR in .... here's a picture of part of the Arizona dessert... THESE are the people you want to encourage... REALLY!!!!
Permalink Reply by Daria Novak on December 10, 2010 at 3:05pm Economies thrive and countries have a greater opportunity for freedom for their citizenry when taxes are low across the board. If Congress had stopped spending and expanding government programs during the Reagan years we would have felt the positive impact of reduced taxation more extensively in the 80's. We now have another opportunity to stand strong against a Democrat Congress intent on seizing more of our hard-earned money and thus taking away more of what control we have left over our lives. Perhaps, this time, Republican lawmakers will learn tax cuts must be accompanied by reduced spending. While that may mean a reduction in their power, it is the right thing to do for the nation.
It is up to voters to hold those we elected in 2010 accountable and to keep the pressure on officials already in office to spend wisely, and only on what is necessary. Free enterprise works best when there is capital in the marketplace that can be used to expand the private sector infrastructure, conduct research and development for new products and services, and to hire additional employees. If my 12 year old understands this, then I should hope Congress gets it! Small businesses are the backbone of America and need to retain these cuts to stay in business.
Sad to say, but families may find it necessary to use those tax cut funds to pay the higher cost for energy this Administration has forced on us. We should fight not only to retain but to reduce the level of taxation. I already have heard about proposals for a new state property tax in CT to allow the Democrat dominated legislature to increase spending, among other bad ideas.
The Democrats in the United States don't seem to understand that government should ONLY exist to do what individuals cannot do for themselves. Instead, they allow it to take on a lifeblood and act as if we the people are not intelligent enough to run our own lives. I, for one, think I'm more capable of making personal decisions for my family than ANY bureaucrat in Washington. I don't need and don't want a Washington caretaker.
The Republican Party must stand up, speak out, and act to secure our rights, the same ones gifted to us in the US Constitution by our Founding Fathers.
I don't know if anyone at RNC bothers to read this blog, but if they did, or participated they would know that we Americans are weary of Washington, afraid to trust even the newly elected until they prove themselves, and ready to expel those who fail us.
We must unite behind the strong principles that helped form our Party. We must not be afraid to state what is wrong and celebrate what is right with America. We also must recognize that the family is the basic social unit in this great nation and it must be protected. The family, not the government should be making most decisions. Our politicians' duty is simply to represent us and to carry out the will of the people. It is NOT to rule us. King George is long gone.
My best guess is that tax cut funds will NOT be going to RNC or any other major party-related organization until they prove themselves worthy.
Permalink Reply by Elaine Magliacane on December 10, 2010 at 3:22pm YOU ARE NOT getting a tax cut... your taxes are GOING UP or staying the same... NOBODY is getting a tax cut... this is making me CRAZY... I can't believe people are so uninformed.
Isn't it strange how folks believe what they read? Isn't it tim to teach Americans how to read and understand what the POLs are doing to us?
Permalink Reply by Daria Novak on December 12, 2010 at 11:00am Sharron, I think you are correct. We need to speak out, politely, everywhere we go as most people are unaware of how dangerous this Administration is to the American people and how great a threat to our freedom. They hide bills behind sweet sounding names, but they contain the poison of socialism and communism, stripping us of the rights fought for by so many generations that came before us. The followers of George Soros are agents of death with regard to freedom, liberty, free enterprise and even prosperity for the typical American.
Congress appears to think that they have a right to our hard-earned money, when in reality we are their boss and should be making those decisions. If we are to make good ones, then we must educate ourselves and participate in politics. If every voter spent only 2 hours a month informing themselves on the issues, this country would be stronger.
Those of us who can must in these times lead out of necessity. It was not my life's ambition to run for US Congress. I am doing it because I strongly believe that we must step us to save our nation in this 11th hour. We can help people to become informed, run for office, and as individuals make a difference in the direction of our country! I wouldn't bother if I thought all was lost. As a military leader will tell you, one doesn't go to war if the possibility of success is zero. We have opportunities left to explore, including taking back our government and reducing its size - permanently.
There are some good leaders in Washington. We need to support them as they lead us back to more normal times. It won't happen overnight. And, it won't be easy. One issue that concerns me is that I see splits over relatively inconsequential issues among Republicans. This is not a time to argue over the small topics, while huge threats loom before us. I want to be that shining city on the hill about which Reagan spoke so eloquently about when I was young. Oil is in the lamp, the wick is set high and it's ready to be relit. It is up to the American people to ignite the spark of freedom again.
Permalink Reply by Sue Jones on December 10, 2010 at 3:34pm Which countries with low tax rates are doing well now? Looking at the recent statistics regarding performance in reading, math and science it looked like socialist countries and those with much higher tax rates are doing the best.
Permalink Reply by Elaine Magliacane on December 10, 2010 at 3:47pm We pay MORE per student than any country in the WORLD and have the worse schools... so MONEY isn't the problem... crappy schools and teachers unions are. What are you doing on the list, and in the country if you admire Socialism, move to Cuba... great weather, and all the Socialism you could ever want.
THIS COUNTRY did better than ANYONE in the world before the Progressives starting eating away at our economic freedom... started in 1914 with the progressive INCOME TAX, prior to that we paid NO INCOME tax, look at the STATE in the United states with the LOWEST unemployment.. TEXAS... oooo no income tax. Low taxes and SMALL government is the engine that built this country... NOT SOCIALISM, socialism DOES NOT WORK, never had, never will.
