"You Asked and We Listened"

President Obama has signed into law more than $670 billion in tax increases.  The middle class has not been left out, with at least 14 different tax increases signed into law that target taxpayers making less than $250,000 per year.

Since Obama took office 15 months ago, has your family had to make any changes in your spending habits or lifestyle?

The middle class and even the poverty class were a little better off with the tax cuts. It seems to me that thte very women who scream the loudest about making abortion the woman's choice are also the most vocal at telling the government that they can have complete control over every other aspect of each person's life. As a conservative, I would not say that abortions should be illegal. But, it should NEVER be paid for from tax money and it should never be mandatory for a doctor or other health professional be privvy to any type of abortion procedure. That's OUR choice.
I, myself, have not really made any changes. What has changed is that I am not able to save like I used to. I don't owe for anything except for a surgery bill. When I buy, I like to save the money then pay for the goods. My house if paid for; my vehicles are paid for, etc. My son lost his job and that has been tough. He is now working with more than 10 illegal workers at a construction site. One of them is so bold as to brag about living with his (illegal) girlfriend and her three children in an apratment paid for by the government - us, the taxpayers. All of the workers get $10.50 an hour. He can't quit because he has to work somewhere. But, he is so upset that he is being paid and taxes are withheld, but for the illegals, they get the lump sum. I told him to report the illegals. When I began looking into where to report them, I found out that now, there is no official place that deals with illegal immigrants. The best I could get was to call our state representatives. Now, really, what good would that do. If I have to pay taxes, shouldn't I have more say as to how those monies will be distributed?
I agree with Marlena -- as the Bible says, "He that does not work, neither shall he eat." We should help those who cannot help themselves, but not those who prefer to let others take care of them! Ever notice how many "poor" people have expensive shoes, cell phones or blackberries? And I bet they have a large LARGE screen color tv at home! It's a matter of their priorities -- why should they work or pay for health insurance if they do work when someone else will take care of them and they can spend their own money on material things!

We are retired and had to sell our "dream home" to move to a less expensive one. We can give less now to charities and political causes. We have had to cut down on certain activities with our grandkids because of finances. Still, we are very lucky to live in this state and this nation and I am very motivated to help return our county to a true free enterprise system with much less government involvement in our lives!
I don't think that Jesus would agree with you.
You honestly think that Jesus would want women to kill their unborn children? I see what is wrong with this country. Unbelievable
You don't think that Jesus would be against abortion???? He and His father know us from the moment we are formed in the womb and abortion is the taking of an innocent human life, period! Of course Jesus would oppose that!
What do you think Jesus would say and why?
Jesus would say to "Love they Brother as thyself." He would be disgusted with the hatred of immigrants that you people show. We have spent much more on wars than we spend on helping poor people. This has been very interesting, I can see how the media (controlled by a very wealthy few) has managed to convince people of some really foolish things (the birther movement, misinformation about health care, etc.).
The first and most important commandment that God gave us was to honor Him above all else. If we can't do that, then we have no business trying to follow any of His other commands. If you have ever read a Bible than you should know that God never expects or asks people to take care of those who don't want to take care of themselves. I could tell you the story of Naomi and Ruth or the poor widow, but if you can't see the lessons God has clearly portrayed in these stories and others, I can't alter your mind. You see, God does expect us to take care of those who CAN'T take care of themselves, but He also demands that before we give them bread, we offer them the Bread of Life, a drink from a cup that never shall be dry. Before we feed and clothe and completely take care of someone, we need to offer them the gift of salvation. If one isn't willing to abide by what God teaches in his Word, then why pick and choose. Either the Bible is the inspired word of God or it isn't.
I believe the original question was how *your* life has changes, if at all with the recent tax changes. You digress ....so am I ..
I read a continuing gripe in your posts..against what you term "wealthy people."
Like so many others of late (thanks to Obama's attitude) you think because someone has the motivation and knowledge to save and invest or form and own a successful business or be financially successful for any reason, they are the bad guys? Why? Because they have the audacity to provide jobs and support a local or national economy? Because they support non-profits? I suggest to anyone who thinks "wealthy people" don't pay enough in taxes, don't give enough to non-profits, and are the scum of the earth...just quit your job. It is purely hypocritical to bite the hand that feeds you!
Do you know what the statistics show as far as how much in taxes your hated "wealthy people" pay? It is far more than their "fair" share. How much is enough to you? Should everyone's income be the same? Hummm...sounds like "wealth redistribution" and just slightly socialist/communist to me and a few million others.
Do you know that the Dems had majority control in 2007-2008..*before* Obama..and did little? It is now convenient to forget that fact and continue to blame President Bush for everything under the sun.
Did you know that President Bush's tax cuts actually *generated* revenue? Would you feel better if I told you how many businesses have closed their doors in just the town I live in the past year due to the new state taxes (retro to Jan 2009!) and federal taxes? Is it better for a business owner to actually be open, hire employees and provide a service Or is it better to close so former employees can receive unemployment benefits and food stamps and everyone gets to give their homes back to the bank?
I'm thinking people would rather have smaller government and more jobs...get rid of this monstrous "health care" bill, don't pass so-called cap and trade, don't pass so-called financial reform and crack down on illegal immigrants, to name a few issues.
Jesus said to love thy neighbor as thyself. He did *not* say pay your neighbors bills. There are a great many Scripture passages about the lazy man, the arrogant man, the entitled man....and what the consequences of those lifestyles are. It is common to quote the Bible to suit a specific purpose but that doesn't make it right.
Most people don't hate immigrants; after all almost everyone in the US came from immigrants. We just want them to have to follow the same rules as the rest of us and not free load.
The party of responsibility and accountablity ... not Democrats.
The party of "you owe me" and "it feels..." ... Democrats and liberals.
