Budget & Republican Party Hijacking
I am appalled at the Republican Party hijacking by the Tea Party. Since when did this once proud American political party fall under the sway of what is apparently no better than the Communist Party? Communists believe in one party only - no others count - governed under one ideology dictated from behind closed doors and rewritten at will. Furthermore, Communists claim equality for all but in fact discriminated mightily against women, minorities and the poor. It appears the Tea Party wants only to deny our Right to Life - by curtailing funds for clean air and clean water, deny women's access to family planning largely servicing poor single moms (federal dollars are already banned for abortions), and deny right to healthcare except for the very rich and the well-connected. This is a sham and for once proud Republicans a shame. There must be no rise of Communism in the guise of Tea Party Patriots who seek only to destroy our democracy.

I am appalled that our speaker has just shown us that he is unwilling to stand for anything he was elected to do and EVERYTHING we fought so hard far is lost because of he is a coward!!

I've just returned from a local "Taxed Enough Already" Party meeting and, as always, find nothing but the most patriotic, most caring, most responsible Americans I've ever had the pleasure to connect with.
Have you ever even been to a T.E.A. Party event or a T.E.A. Party meeting? What on earth put any ideas in your head that there is any connection whatsoever with Communism? Is it communistic to expect our government to hold true to the United States Constitution? Have you ever even read the Constitution? Are you the least bit familiar with the fact that it spells out quite specifically WHAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MAY DO "FOR US AS WELL AS TO US" and anything not spelled out is given to the individual states? NO WHERE IN OUR CONSTITUTION DOES IT ALLOW THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO TAKE MONEY FROM THE PEOPLE AND USE IT FOR THE PURPOSE OF DOING ANYTHING FOR WOMEN OR TO WOMEN!!
Is it communistic to expect our elected politicians to work for the people who pay their salaries and be fiscally responsible with the people's hard-earned tax dollars? Is it communistic to want to limit the size of our government to within the parameters of the United States Constitution PRECISELY SO THAT IT CANNOT BECOME A TYRANNICAL, CENTRALIZED, COMMUNISTIC FORM OF GOVERNMENT?
Is it communistic to believe individual liberty is far more important than the collective state? I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE EVEN THE MOST BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT COMMUNISOM IS!!!
The T.E.A. Party is fighting for the freedom and liberty of ALL OUR CITIZENS, men and women, against an administration that is marching all of us into the tyranny of socialism and beyond faster than at any time in history.
The T.E.A. Party is not a third party. It is simply patriotic Americans from all races, religions, socio-economic groups and political persuasions who simply believe in FREEDOM. Freedom that cannot be given nor taken away by any from of government!
If we are able to save all women from the slavery that is this growing nanny-welfare-state, we will have given them true freedom to earn their own way, decide their own destiny and stand on their own two feet. The socialist utopia nonsense you prefer to hand them with a few "free" (paid for by all other citizens...there is no such thing as free!) health services will never compare to saving their real freedom that will allow them to thrive and prosper!
Perhaps you had better re-educate yourself about who the T.E.A. Party really is and what they stand for. Then, start thanking each and every one of them for all they are doing to save this Republic and give liberty to all women!

Baloney. If you are not mature enough to appreciate all the freedoms this country has bestowed on us, thanks to our forefathers, you cannot possibly hope to vote responsibly or grasp what democracy stands for. You seem to define democracy as what YOU believe in and what YOU feel it should be. Read the Constitution and you will find that democracy is a coming together of all in an albeit imperfect union. You seem to feel you are being dictated to, but laws on the books are what our "imperfect union" voted for....and we must work hard to perfect what is imperfect. Democracy is not what YOU want or what I want....it is what we vote for together. The lack of understanding about this basic nature of U.S. history is reflection of either lack of knowledge or intelligence and, unfortunately, it is likely both.

You said it Liz! On the one hand the Tea Party folks want the government out of their lives - on the other hand, they are against a woman's right to choose, gay marriage etc. By cutting funding for birth control, they are preventing woman from being strong and taking charge of their lives. Planned Parenthood prevents abortions and cuts down on welfare - they teach women to be responsible. The far right types I know are happy to accept student aid, medicare and anything that benefits them. Betty Ford is my type of Republican, let's get back to the days when Republicans were fiscally conservative and did not try to force their views on the rest of the country. I have had enough of this hatred of minorities, Muslims, immigrants - Republican leaders of the past did not spread these ideas.

It gets worse by the day - when Eric Cantor plays poker with the debt ceiling we all stand to suffer, from sunken retirement savings to new global depression. Anyone serving in public office must strike a meeting of the minds to solve common problems with solutions that may not be perfect but are, indeed, democratic. The idealogues of the Cantor/Nordquist persuasion will drive the Republican Party to oblivion which, if the Party does not reform itself, may be fortunate. There is such apparent contempt for the American people that Republican office holders reflect today I believe they have no longer have legitimacy to receive public taxpayer salaries.
